Get ready to secure the best seats in the house as Battersea Power Station once again hosts Summer Showtime, a unique outdoor cinema experience running from 21st July – 21st August 2022.
The open-air riverside cinema will feature a host of blockbusters from The Cinema in the Arches, held for the first time in the newly opened six-acre Power Station Park situated in front of the Grade II* listed building itself. The Cinema in the Arches can be found nestled under the railway arches along Arches Lane near the Grosvenor Bridge entrance. The boutique cinema is set to expand its presence at Battersea Power Station, opening a new cinema and private members club, The Cinema in the Power Station, inside the Grade II* listed building itself this Autumn.
Film fans are in for a treat with a great line-up of much-loved classics, including Dirty Dancing and Back to The Future, to more recent hits such as The Greatest Showman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Grand Budapest Hotel and many more.
A selection of major sporting events will also be shown for free, including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Tour De France and the T20 Cricket.
Cinema-goers looking for the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat and drink will be spoilt for choice with some great food and drink pop-ups on The Coaling Jetty out on the River Thames. Seafood experts, Wright Brothers’, special summer pop-up menu features delicious seafood tacos, burgers and oysters, plus refreshing cocktails such as Pimms and lemonade and Mojitos. Cinnamon Kitchen and Megan’s at The Power Station will be serving tasty take-away dishes and treats. Guests will also be able to snack on gourmet popcorn and sweets from The Cinema in The Arches.
Visitors can ‘dine around the world’ at Battersea Power Station’s eclectic mix of bars and restaurants including delicious Italian dishes at Francesco Mazzei’s Fiume, Spanish delights at Tapas Brindisa Battersea, bottomless pizza at Gordon Ramsay’s Street Pizza, modern Indian at Chef Vivek Singh’s Cinnamon Kitchen, authentic Malaysian at Sugen Gopal’s Roti King, beer brewed on site at Battersea Brewery, and Japanese ramen at Tonkotsu to name a few.
Summer Showtime is the ideal opportunity to discover Battersea Power Station before the Grade II* listed building opens its doors to the public in Autumn 2022. Once open, the London landmark will be home to over 100 shops, bars, restaurants, offices and unique events spaces including the chimney lift experience, which will transport visitors 109m up to the top of the Power Station’s north-west chimney and offer 360° views of the London skyline.
Simon Murphy, CEO at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said:
“Summer Showtime at Battersea Power Station has been a huge success in previous years, so we are delighted to be bringing it to the newly opened Power Station Park in 2022. Located at the foot of the Power Station’s iconic chimneys, beside the River Thames, it has to be one of the best backdrops in London to kick back and enjoy a great film or watch a spot of cricket or athletics.
Our carefully curated programme ensures there’s something from everyone, from family favourites to blockbusters. It’s also the perfect time to visit our new riverside neighbourhood before we open the Power Station to the public this Autumn, unveiling what is, without a doubt, one of Europe’s most exciting new retail and leisure destinations.”
Lisa Burdge, Founder, The Cinema in the Arches, said:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Battersea Power Station for another year of Summer Showtime. With an impressive backdrop of the newly unveiled Power Station, this year’s outdoor cinema will include everything from cult classics and iconic scenes to jaw-clenching moments from this year’s sporting calendar. This activity marks the start of an exciting year for us as we extend our presence in Circus West Village to open a new cinema site and members club inside the iconic Battersea Power Station – The Cinema in the Power Station will be opening in Autumn 2022.”
The Cinema in The Arches is renowned for its signature luxe cinematic experience with comfy reclining seats, state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos surround sound and highest quality laser projection screens.
Travelling to Battersea Power Station couldn’t be easier with the Northern Line Extension giving this new riverside neighbourhood its very own Zone 1 London Underground station, putting the destination within 15 minutes of the West End and the City.
