Battersea Power Station Community Choir marked its 10th anniversary with a free public concert on Sunday 14th June 2026, joined by acclaimed choirmaster Gareth Malone OBE, closing out The Wine Circuit festival.

Taking place inside the iconic Grade II* listed Power Station, the one-hour performance brought together existing choir members for a celebratory set of favourite songs performed for visitors, choir supporters and music lovers.

To mark the milestone anniversary, the choir was joined by Gareth Malone OBE, the BAFTA-winning choirmaster and broadcaster who has transformed British choral singing through his acclaimed BBC series The Choir, large-scale national projects, and award-winning work with schools, workplaces and military communities across the UK. Local Wandsworth group, BAC Beatbox Academy, also joined the choir to perform a series of their beatbox and vocal numbers.

What began in 2016 as a small group of just 12 local residents has grown into a vibrant community with over 200 people having sung together over the past ten years, bringing people together through music. Produced in collaboration with local arts venue, Battersea Arts Centre since 2024, the choir has become a true part of the Battersea Power Station fabric, creating lasting friendships and memorable experiences for singers of all ages and backgrounds.

Over the last decade, the choir has enjoyed a remarkable journey, performing at numerous events at Battersea Power Station including the landmark’s official public opening in 2022, as well as at notable venues across London. It has also collaborated with renowned artists such as Gareth Malone, Jamie Cullum, Sting and Kylie Minogue, and performed for His Majesty King Charles III and the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, cementing its reputation as one of the capital’s most inspiring community choirs.

Sam Evans, Battersea Power Station Community Choir Director, said:

“It’s been such a fun journey over the last ten years, with 12 people attending the first rehearsal in 2016 to now nearly 200 people having joined us over the past decade. The choir has an incredibly diverse mix of members, reflecting Battersea and London, and I look forward to the choir continuing to bring people together through singing in the years to come.”

Sarah Banham, Head of Community and Sustainability at Battersea Power Station Development Community said:

“The Battersea Power Station Community Choir has played a vital role in shaping the development, helping us connect with both our local and wider communities through the power of song. Over the past ten years, their energetic performances have brought our riverside destination to life and created many unforgettable moments. I look forward to seeing what the next decade brings for the choir.”
