The Battersea Power Station Community Choir (BPSCC) is a diverse and energetic group, bringing together over 100 participants from the local area to sing weekly as a group.

Established in May 2016 the choir has grown and developed from 14 initial members to over 100 in the past nine years. The choir performs regularly at a variety of different events and venues, and have collaborated with renowned artists such as Gareth Malone, Jamie Cullum and Sting.

The choir is very relaxed and there are no auditions to join – some of our members have no experience at all and others are accomplished musicians. The group doesn’t use sheet music but learn by ear, singing in three parts: Whitneys (Sopranos), Lulus (Altos) and Freddies (male voices).

Throughout the year, the choir receives performance requests, and when an opportunity arises, the musical director and the choir members will work during rehearsals to perfect their songs. Recent events have included singing at the annual Battersea Ball to over 1,000 guests in Battersea Park, and at the visit of His Majesty King Charles III to Battersea Power Station in December 2024.

The choir is directed by Sam Evans and since November 2024 has been produced in collaboration with Battersea Arts Centre. We are incredibly proud of how far the Battersea Power Station Community Choir has come, and so excited to create more fantastic work in 2025.

“Singing in the choir means so much to all of us. Through the choir, we’ve all made friends and got to know other local people who we wouldn’t have necessarily met.”
