After hosting a successful Padel court pop-up at sports and games themed event, The Battersea Games in 2023, Rocket Padel will be returning to Battersea Power Station later this year to open Central London’s first riverside indoor Padel courts.

Pioneers in the world’s fastest growing sport, Rocket Padel, are on a mission to make the racket sport accessible to everyone by creating standout destinations for enthusiasts of all levels, which is exactly what they will bring to the new venue at Battersea Power Station. The four indoor courts will be in place for five years and built to the east of the Grade II* listed landmark alongside an immersive exhibition space.

Community is at the heart of what Battersea Power Station and Rocket Padel want to achieve with this exciting new venue. There will be community focused programmes with local youth organisations, charities and schools benefitting from free taster sessions at the Padel courts. The sports venue will also create new jobs for local residents, as well as a variety of educational workshops, work experience opportunities and apprenticeships. An LTA accredited coaching and training programme will be available at Rocket Padel Battersea too.

Landscaped public realm will sit alongside the Padel courts for visitors to enjoy, adding to the green spaces already open at the riverside neighbourhood, including the six-acre Power Station Park. Rocket Padel will be open seven days a week and offer a refreshment kiosk so players can refuel after being on court.

Sam Cotton, Head of Asset Management at Battersea Power Station Development Company, said:

“We are always looking for new ways to activate parts of the riverside neighbourhood as we deliver the Battersea Power Station masterplan and are excited to be working with the Rocket Padel team again to open the first riverside Padel courts in Central London. Rocket Padel are leaders in their field, and we couldn’t think of better partners to bring a vibrant new sports offering to the eastern part of the development, which will offer significant community benefits including job creation and free taster sessions for local organisations and school children.”

Sebastian Gordon, Founder of Rocket Padel, said:

“We are thrilled to partner with Battersea Power Station to open the first riverside indoor Padel courts in Central London. To be able to offer Padel at such an iconic location will not only serve as a benefit for local residents, Londoners, and tourists, but it will also help fuel the sport on a global scene. Rocket Padel operates Padel as a fusion between sports and lifestyle, and this venue will serve as a flagship delivering a unique player and visiting experience.”

Quickly establishing itself as a must-visit destination, Battersea Power Station welcomed over 11.2 million visitors in 2023 and was recently named by National Geographic as one of the top 20 ‘Best Cultural Hotspots’ in the world to visit in 2024.

The riverside neighbourhood has also established itself as a sporting destination following the success of The Battersea Games last year and has been announced as one of the official Wimbledon fan zones this summer, as well as the only official Team GB London fan zone for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
