On your marks, get set, go! Battersea Power Station to host ‘The Battersea Games’ this summer

Battersea Power Station is the must-visit destination for sports and games fans this summer with the launch of its brand-new event, The Battersea Games.

Taking place inside and outside the Grade II* listed Power Station, the new event will feature an evolving calendar of sports and games suitable for all ages and interests including a pop-up padel court from Rocket Padel, climbing wall, 3×3 basketball court, 100m running track, a range of classes including yoga, boxing and HIIT training, dog agility and training, virtual reality gaming, ping pong and giant board games to name a few.

Several top sports brands will be hosting a range of pop-ups and classes throughout The Battersea Games including Nike, lululemon and Under Amour.

London’s newest riverside neighbourhood will also be home to The Wimbledon Experience presented by Ocean Outdoor and the All England Lawn Tennis Club with all the live action being shown on a big screen in Power Station Park. Themed films and other summer sporting fixtures will also be screened throughout the Games.

 

Between 1st July – 3rd September 2023, Battersea Power Station will be hosting, The Battersea Games, the riverside neighbourhood’s new event for the summer and is inviting all to take part or spectate in an exciting array of free and ticketed sports and games focused activities available inside and outside the Grade II* listed Power Station.

Power Station Park will be transformed into London’s newest sporting venue with a pop-up padel court from Rocket Padel, a 100m running track and 3×3 basketball court. There will also be a flexi-space where a range of brands and community groups from the likes of Nike, Be Military Fit (BMF), lululemon, Under Armour and Carney’s Community will offer a great mix of classes, from yoga, boxing, HIIT workouts and more. Known as a dog-friendly hub, visitors with four-legged friends will be thrilled to hear that charity Battersea Dogs and Cats Home will be bringing a dog-friendly agility course and hosting training sessions in the Power Station Park too.

A unique indoor climbing experience will also feature in The Battersea Games calendar. Visitors to the London landmark will be able to reach new heights on a climbing wall whilst marvelling at the post-war industrial design of the Power Station’s Turbine Hall B.

Families looking for some friendly competition should check out the Bounce Ping Pong pop-up with their games gurus ahead of the ‘home of ping pong’s’ official opening inside the Power Station this summer or head to The Coaling Jetty for a game of Boules whilst enjoying the beautiful riverside views. DNA VR will also be offering a range of fun and engaging virtual reality experiences inside the historic Power Station including laser tag and vintage arcade games such as Strike A Light and the World’s Largest PAC-MAN will be free to play inside Turbine Hall B from 8th – 9th July and 5th – 6th August.

It wouldn’t be a British sporting summer without a spot of tennis and The Wimbledon Experience presented by Ocean Outdoor and the All England Lawn Tennis Club will kick start the first two weeks of The Battersea Games with all the live action being shown on a big screen in Power Station Park. Spectators will be able to enjoy some sensationally sippable Gin and Tonics from Sipsmith, with drinks served from their new art deco Gin Bus between 13th – 16th July over the finals weekend. Plus, sports and games themed films organised by The Cinema in the Power Station and other summer sporting fixtures such as the Tour de France and World Athletics Championships will be shown on the big screen throughout the event.

Luxury Swiss watchmakers, IWC Schaffhausen, have a treat in store for Formula 1 fans visiting The Battersea Games. For the Silverstone F1 week, the brand will have a Mercedes racing car located outside its boutique inside the Power Station between 4th – 9th July.

With Battersea Power Station now home to internationally renowned sports and wellness brands, many of which will be taking part in brand takeovers throughout the games, there will be plenty of opportunity for visitors to pick up the latest sports and athleisure clothing, equipment and accessories from the likes of Nike, Adidas, lululemon, Sweaty Betty, The North Face, Under Armour, JOTT, Skechers and the soon to open Arcteryx, with some brands offering special offers and instore events in celebration of the Games taking place.

After enjoying the variety of sports and games available across the riverside neighbourhood, visitors will be able to refuel at over 30 cafes, bars and restaurants now open at Battersea Power Station, as well as at some mouth-watering street food pop-ups on the Riverwalk.

Travelling to Battersea Power Station couldn’t be easier with the Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station bringing the riverside neighbourhood within 15 minutes of the West End and the City. Battersea Power Station also has its very own Uber Boat by Thames Clippers pier and is a 15- minute journey from Embankment, 20 minutes from Blackfriars, 30 minutes from Putney and 40 minutes from Canary Wharf. The riverside neighbourhood is easily accessible by bus, bike, car and train too.
