Sat derelict for nearly forty years and after several failed attempts by previous owners, many said it was impossible however through the commitment of our shareholders and various stakeholders, we have brought the Grade II* listed landmark back to life and have welcomed over three million visitors to the neighborhood since. The opening has already boosted the local economy, creating over 2,500 jobs through the many shops, restaurants, offices and leisure venues opening here, as well as providing a new destination for London. Once known as the ‘Everest of Real Estate’, we’re honoured to receive this wider recognition and to appear as the number one in this is fantastic.”
Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan said:
“What a strange and thrilling year it has been to honor this year’s Most Innovative Companies. This year’s list compiles some of the most cutting-edge groundbreakers who are changing our world every single day, from legacy organizations like McDonald’s to upstarts like MrBeast and institutions such as NASA. Everyone on this list does something completely, uniquely different, yet, they all have one thing in common: innovation.”
Battersea Power Station is an exciting new riverside retail and leisure destination for London, with the iconic Power Station opening to the public for the first time in its 90-year history on 14th October 2022, as well as Electric Boulevard, a new high street to the south of the landmark. The Power Station is home to 254 apartments, 565,000 sq ft office space and over 100 shops, bars, restaurants, offices and leisure venues, including Lift 109, a unique glass elevator, which transports visitors to the top of the Power Station’s north-west chimney offering stunning views of the London skyline.
The Power Station’s retail offering is housed in the landmark’s two newly restored, historic Turbine Halls. Turbine Hall A reflects the lavish Art Deco glamour of the 1930s when the Power Station was originally built, whereas Turbine Hall B, which was completed in the 1950s, has more of a brutalist, industrial look and feel. Both Turbine Halls are now home to a great mix of British and international brands, including Nike, Adidas, Ace + Tate, ME+EM, Sweaty Betty, Mango, Uniqlo and Zara, as well as smaller more independent retailers such as The Battersea Bookshop, CSD and Curated Makers.
