Base Jobs Fair August 2017

The Battersea Academy of Skills Excellence (BASE) hosted a job fair yesterday to recruit local people seeking careers in hospitality at the Battersea Power Station development. The event was held in the new Village Hall and was attended by Wandsworth Councillor, Kim Caddy. Over 160 locals dropped by throughout the day to discuss job and training opportunities with the BASE team and hear about upcoming career opportunities across the scheme.

BASE is a bespoke service that works in partnership with existing local job programmes to match local people to some of the 17,000 long-term jobs that will become available over the next decade at Battersea Power Station. Positions ranged from entry level to senior management roles within a diversity of sectors including hospitality, security, concierge, estate management and specialist roles. Over the next eight years, thousands of long term jobs will be created across the mixed-use development.

The Battersea Power Station shareholders, Sime Darby, S P Setia and the Employees’ Provident Fund, are committed to extending the socio-economic benefits of the development into the site’s neighbouring communities. The BASE initiative was created to drive long-term access to the new job opportunities and is part of the asset management programme for the 42-acre estate.

People interested in careers in retail, hospitality, estate management, leisure and business at the Battersea Power Station development are invited to sign up to the BASE talent pool at www.baseskillsacademy.co.uk to be informed about vacancies as they become available.

Working with BASE is an embedded team from Wandsworth Council’s Work Match service who, together with Lambeth Working, Battersea Power Station’s retailers, hotels, restaurants, office tenants and estate management contractors, help attract, grow and retain local talent through a Service Excellence skills programme that will be tailored to the employers’ specific needs and build on their own in-house training programmes.
