Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold: The Exhibition

Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold: The Exhibition opens 28 February 2026.

Ruling for almost seventy years, Ramses II campaigned across continents, transformed the landscape of ancient Egypt, and left a legacy unmatched by any ruler of the ancient world.

Exhibition highlights include:

Colossal statue of Ramses II

A monumental granite sculpture carved in the early years of the king’s reign, expressing the authority and ambition of a pharaoh at the height of his power.

Cedar coffin of Ramses II

Discovered in 1881 in the Royal Cache at Deir el-Bahari, this exceptionally rare coffin offers a remarkable insight into the burial and afterlife of Egypt’s most celebrated ruler.

Mask of King Amenemope

Fashioned from sheets of gold and inlaid with wood, bronze, carnelian, and lapis lazuli, this finely worked mask bears the king’s features and is crowned with the uraeus, symbol of royal authority and divine protection.

Many of the objects on display have never travelled beyond Egypt. These are not replicas or reconstructions, but original works, created more than three thousand years ago to secure a king’s name for eternity.

Discover why Ramses the Great continues to command fascination millennia later.
