New for celebrASIA 2026, we are hosting a series of expert panel talks exploring storytelling, food, fashion, heritage and culture.

Celebrating the uniting nature of food and cooking. What does flavour mean as a way of connecting, and how do we learn about new foods?

Join our talented hosts Budgie Montoya, John Chantarasak, Abby Lee, and Abbey Wong as they embark on an exciting journey into the tantalising world of cooking. This engaging panel celebrates the communal spirit of food and the artistry involved in culinary creations, highlighting how the vibrant tapestry of flavours can spark meaningful conversations among people. Delve into the essence of flavour as a powerful tool for connection, and uncover the ways we discover and embrace diverse culinary traditions and new ingredients. Through lively discussions and mouthwatering explorations, the hosts invite you to consider the joyful act of sharing meals and stories that bring us all together.

About your hosts:

Abbey Wong is the director of Voice ESEA, an educational non-profit started in active response to the rise in anti- East and South East Asian (ESEA) hate crimes during the pandemic.

Abby Lee is the head chef and founder of London restaurant Mambow, where she serves a menu of modern Malaysian dishes.

John Chantarasak studied at Le Cordon Bleu Dusit in Bangkok and is the co-founder of Michelin-starred AngloThai, a restaurant serving food inspired by his dual Thai-British heritage.

Budgie Montoya is the chef and creative force behind Sarap and Apoy, taking his ventures from an intimate supper club in 2017 to critically acclaimed London restaurants by 2020. His bold, joyful cooking redefined Filipino flavours, helping put modern Filipino cuisine firmly on the city’s culinary map.
