Na Willa tells the story of Willa, a six-year-old girl who believes that her small world in a quiet alley in Surabaya is the most perfect and magical place. But when her best friend has an accident and, one by one, her playmates begin going to school, Willa’s world slowly changes and starts to feel emptier. Willa decides to follow her friends to kindergarten, where Willa learns that growing up means making peace with change, and that magic does not disappear; it simply moves to a different place.

As part of celebrASIA 2026, this exciting film programme shines a spotlight on contemporary South East Asian cinema, bringing audiences a diverse collection of films that reflect the region’s creativity, culture and spirit.

Featuring family-friendly stories, moving dramas, compelling documentaries and crowd-pleasing classics, the festival explores the experiences that unite us all: friendship, family, ambition, heritage and the importance of community.

Through stories from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, audiences are invited to experience the richness of South East Asian storytelling on the big screen.
