• Swedish electric performance car brand, Polestar, will open its new UK flagship Space at Battersea Power Station on Friday 14 October 2022
• Polestar is changing the face of automotive retail with non-commissioned product specialists and a digital-first sales proposition
• Polestar 2 is now available to order with test drives possible at the new Battersea Power Station space
• The brand will also be unveiling Polestar 3 this October

Swedish electric performance car brand, Polestar (Nasdaq: PSNY), will open its UK flagship Space at the iconic Battersea Power Station on Friday 14th October 2022, when the Grade II* listed building opens its doors to the public for the first time in history. The Space will form part of the London landmark’s new retail and leisure offering and continues to buck the traditional automotive retail model by championing a direct-to-consumer, digital-first sales approach.

Featuring the same minimalist design that all Spaces are now known for, Polestar Battersea Power Station will be situated on the ground floor near to the building’s southern entrance, which opens onto Malaysia Square and Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street for London. The Space will be one of over 100 shops, bars, restaurants and leisure venues that call Battersea Power Station home, with the first wave of retailers opening their doors from 14th October 2022.

Visitors to the new Space will be able to interact with non-commissioned Polestar Specialists to gain information about the brand and how to order their own car if required. Guests can also take a test drive of Polestar 2 from the facility with a one-hour drive route from the site’s car park.

As its flagship, Polestar Battersea Power Station has enough room to display up to five vehicles and joins Manchester Trafford Centre and Solihull Touchwood Centre as the third full Space opening in the UK. The temporary Polestar Space in Westfield White City will move to Battersea Power Station.

To celebrate the opening, the Polestar Precept, which hints at the exterior design of Polestar 5, will be on display from 14th – 23rd October at the new Battersea Power Station Space. The Precept showcases the future direction for the Polestar brand in terms of design, sustainability and technology and also hints at the exterior design of Polestar 5. Partly engineered in Coventry, Polestar 5 will receive a UK-developed innovative bonded aluminium chassis for superlative performance and sustainable qualities.

Jonathan Goodman, Head of Polestar UK, said:
“The opening of Polestar Battersea Power Station is a great moment for our Brand in the UK. It will allow potential customers to discover Polestar in a relaxing and informed environment, enabling them to define their own shopping experience and reinforces our determination to change the face of automotive retail. Battersea Power Station is such an iconic location in the UK and we can’t wait to invite visitors into our flagship Space from 14th October, whether for a test drive, to learn more about Polestar or to take part in one of the many events we’ll have taking place.”

Sam Cotton, Head of Leasing at Battersea Power Station, said:
“We are really pleased that Polestar have chosen Battersea Power Station for their flagship store, which will add an exciting new dynamic to our retail and leisure offering.”

Those wishing to order or reserve a Polestar can complete the process on the Polestar website, either in the comfort of their own home or, with the guidance of a Polestar Specialist in their chosen Space.
Each Polestar Space is specifically designed to promote, not distract from, the product with a closely curated experience to truly reflect the design-led brand’s ethos. The Polestar vehicles on display take priority, lit with specially designed lightboxes to guarantee photographic studio-quality light without distracting shadows. On either side of the vehicle, the walls display large format art featuring Polestar products and brand details alongside interactive LED display screens.

Those at the configuration stage can experience the unique free-standing atelier table, inspired by design house cutting tables. By physically placing trim modules on the surface, RFID technology allows customers to curate their own specification and see it presented on the display screens. Once the design is perfected, placing an NFC-compatible device on the table means the user can take their configuration away with them without even pressing a button.

Representing the next step in Polestar’s journey to bring a range of design and performance-led electric vehicles to market, these locations will ultimately go one step further. Each Polestar Space will become part of a network and foster a community, hosting talks and exhibitions, from design and architecture to technology and automotive.

The Polestar 2 is available to buy from Polestar.com with a range of up to 335 miles (WLTP). Polestar will launch four new cars in the next five years starting with Polestar 3, a premium electric performance SUV, to be unveiled in October 2022.

Opening to the public on 14th October, Battersea Power Station will be one of the most exciting retail and leisure destinations in London, with major international brands such as Hugo Boss, Theory, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Aesop, Space NK, Ace + Tate, lululemon, Mulberry, Jo Malone London, Uniqlo, Mango and a new neighbourhood bookstore, Battersea Bookshop, from specialist bookseller Stanfords, setting up shop inside the iconic building.

There will be over 100 shops, bars and restaurants, a 24,000 sq ft Arcade Food Hall from JKS Restaurants opening next year, office space and a unique events and leisure offering, including Lift 109, a glass elevator experience, which transports visitors 109m up to the top of the building’s north west chimney, offering stunning views of the London skyline. The Power Station is also home to 254 apartments with residents moving in from last Spring and a new six-acre riverfront park which is already open to the public.

Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street for the local area, also opens from 14th October 2022 and will offer a mix of bars and restaurants, office space, shops, a park, community centre and an exciting new 164 room hotel from art’otel®, the brand’s first hotel to open in London. Retailers already announced to be opening on Electric Boulevard later this year include high street favourite, ZARA and a new-concept M&S Food hall. A 28,000 sq. ft club from London fitness brand, Third Space, will also open in 2023.

Circus West Village, the first completed chapter in the regeneration of Battersea Power Station, is already home to over 1,800 residents and more than 20 bars, restaurants, cafés, fitness and leisure offerings.

With the Northern Line extended to give this new riverside neighbourhood its very own Zone 1 London Underground station, Battersea Power Station is now within 15 minutes of the West End and the City and is expected to draw visitors from across the capital and the globe, becoming one of London’s most visited destinations, boosting the local economy and creating over 17,000 jobs. Battersea Power Station is also easily accessible via the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers river bus service, bike, train and on foots.

Our shareholders, Sime Darby Property, S P Setia, PNB and the Employees’ Provident Fund, are proud to be custodians of the Power Station and the surrounding estate and are committed to delivering this new town centre in the heart of London.
