The London Seafood Festival at Battersea Power Station

A host of world famous chefs will be lending their magic touch to the London Seafood Festival at Battersea Power Station this summer, with all the family able to enjoy chef masterclasses, exclusive dishes, a crayfish boil, an oyster masterclass and a selection of pop-ups serving a range of delicious dishes.

Mitch Tonks, Francesco Mazzei, Mark Hix, Vivek Singh, and Tim Hughes are among the big-name chefs taking part in the event at Circus West Village with Anna Hansen of Modern Pantry, Pascal Aussignac of Club Gascon, Edson Diaz-Fuentes of Santa Remedio and former Masterchef winner Tim Anderson, who now runs Japanese restaurant Nanban also joining the lineup.

The five-day festival, which takes place on the banks of the River Thames from Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 June, will also have a variety of maritime themed cinema screenings for kids and adults alike. Children will also be able to enjoy face painting, a giant bubble maker and much more.

The guest chefs will be cooking up a storm on the Riverwalk at Circus West Village, the first chapter in the regeneration of Battersea Power Station – which is quickly becoming one of London’s most exciting new food and drink destinations – on both Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June. The demonstrations are free to attend and a full timetable will be shared on the Seafood Festival website.

There will also be special seafood menus, masterclasses and ticketed dinners at the many restaurants at Circus West Village. Pop-ups will include renowned Spanish restaurant Brindisa, which will be serving a traditional seafood paella, Pedler Cru which will host a Seafood and Cocktail Bar and Battersea Brewery will be serving refreshing drinks.

There will also be many events at the restaurants of Circus West Village, including:

  • Wright Brothers, renowned British oyster and shellfish specialist, will be hosting a Crayfish Boil on Saturday 23rd June, for which tickets will be on sale on the 23rd May, and an Oyster Shucking Station at the weekend to raise money for Action Against Hunger. There will also be a special guest appearance from award-winning chef Mitch Tonks who will be taking over the restaurant on Wednesday 20 June. Mark Hix will be creating a special dish at the restaurant for the festival. An oyster masterclass will also be held on an MBNA Thames Clippers River Bus, starting at London Bridge and travelling to Battersea Power Station.
  • Tonkotsu, a Japanese restaurant known for its ramen, will be adding a special Clam Ramen to its menu and hosting two exciting masterclasses: ‘Organic Wines’ on Wednesday 20th June and ‘Japanese Whisky’ on Thursday 21st June. A special brunch dish of Crab Korokke eggs benedict with yuzu hollandaise will also being offered over the weekend.
  • Cinnamon Kitchen, the contemporary Indian restaurant run by renowned chef Vivek Singh, will be adding a delicious Kerala seafood moily with shrimp mussels and polac special to the menu. There will also be masterclasses for up to 20 guests on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st June.
  • Vagabond, one of the UK’s first urban wineries offering 100 wines by the glass, will be offering a seafood focused lunch with wines paired by chef Ronnie Murray of Peckham Manor.
  • Fiume’s Chef Patron, Francesco Mazzei, will be creating special Italian seafood dishes inspired by the Mediterranean.
  • The CoffeeWorks Project will host a masterclass exploring ‘How To Brew Great Coffee At Home’ on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st June.
  • Mother, a pizzeria from Copenhagen, will be offering two masterclasses on how to make the restaurant’s signature sourdough pizza with purified seawater. They have also created a special clam pizza.

The selection of maritime-themed films on show over the weekend includes Jaws, Splash, Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. A special sing-along edition of “The Little Mermaid” will also feature as part of the line-up on Saturday 23 June.

The Battersea Power Station Foundation and Action Against Hunger are the charity partners for the festival and there will be activities to raise funds for them both throughout the festival. The Battersea Power Station Foundation funds projects that support local communities around Battersea and create new opportunities to make the neighbourhoods better places. Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organisation that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger.
