Over 17,000 new jobs will be created through the regeneration of Battersea Power Station. To ensure local people are best placed to access these jobs, the Battersea Academy for Skills & Employment (BASE) was set up by the shareholders.
Launched in 2016, BASE works in partnership with the local authority, Wandsworth Work Match, community organisations and job programmes to match local people to jobs at Battersea. In addition to work-matching services, BASE provides job-seekers training and support.

In a thrilling collaboration, BASE joined forces with NEON this spring to staff their latest immersive venture at Battersea Power Station: the highly anticipated Jurassic World: The Exhibition. This partnership not only brought dinosaurs to life but also created a wave of employment opportunities for the local community.
Back in March, a diverse array of roles was advertised, ranging from Raptor Actors and Puppeteers to Box Office Assistants, Retail Staff, Rangers, and an HR Manager. To ensure the best fit for these unique positions, BASE organised a series of recruitment days in April, right here at Battersea Power Station. These sessions provided candidates with an insight into NEON’s vision and allowed for interactive group interviews, fostering a dynamic selection process.
The response was overwhelming, with 45 enthusiastic applicants attending the initial session. By May, 42 individuals were invited to participate in a comprehensive three-week paid training programme at Gravity in Wandsworth Town. Demonstrating dedication and passion, 40 candidates successfully completed the training and were offered employment.
The recruitment drive didn’t stop there. Ongoing efforts have continued to fill specialised roles, and as of this report, 59 talented individuals have embarked on their new careers with NEON. This initiative not only enhances the vibrant atmosphere of Battersea Power Station but also underscores our commitment to community engagement and employment.
