SCHOOL VISITS

Battersea Power Station engages with over 4,000 local children and young people per year, encouraging them to aspire to great things. There are a range of projects for students from the age of seven to when they graduate from secondary school.

Key Stage 2 (7 to 11 year-olds)

Free workshops are offered to Wandsworth Primary Schools, focussing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects to support school science and maths curricula. Activities are designed to bring STEM to life. Students learn how the power station produced London’s electricity, how circuits work and even see electricity pass through a human body.

Workshops take place weekly during term time.

“Really excellent workshop – children were fully engaged. The facilitator who ran the workshop was AMAZINGLY enthusiastic and the children absolutely loved him. Will definitely be recommending for the next Year 5 class. It also gave me lots of information and ideas to use in the classroom the few weeks after.”

Key Stage 3 (11 to 14 year-olds)

From September 2019, school visits will be offered to all Wandsworth Key Stage 3 students, with an emphasis on future employment opportunities.

Key Stages 4 and 5 (14 to 18 year-olds)

In partnership with our construction managers (currently Mace and Sir Robert McAlpine), we offer presentations to Key Stage 4 and 5 students in Wandsworth secondary schools.

We attend career fairs organised by schools and colleges, run mock interviews, while our construction managers offer work experience placements for students.

“It is always fantastic to see how much students take away from their interactions with local professionals in interview and on work experience year on year. Six students went on to study engineering at university in 2018, thanks in no small part to their experience at Battersea Power Station.”
