Battersea Power Station Launches Power Of Summer

Six-week festival of fun-filled activities including a pop-up beach, hip-hop classes, Edinburgh Fringe previews and much more kicks off this weekend with a pizza party in the new riverside walk at Circus West Village, Battersea Power Station.

Battersea Power Station’s Power of Summer Festival launches this Saturday 22nd July with a pizza party from 12 noon until late, courtesy of the much-anticipated Scandinavian pizza restaurant, Mother, which opens for the first time in the UK at Circus West Village this weekend. In true Mother style, the opening will be a grand welcoming for everyone with free beer, wine and their trademark sourdough pizzas made with purified seawater.

The Power of Summer Festival will run for six weeks at Circus West Village overlooking the River Thames at Battersea Power Station, with each week taking on a different theme. Full festival details can be found here:

Along with Mother, Circus West Village’s other new independent restaurants and retailers will also be throwing open their doors and putting on events and special offers. No. 29 Power Station West, a new village pub from the neighbourhood bar group, Darwin & Wallace, will be co-sponsoring the festival with Mother, ahead of its official opening on 28 July. The pub will be offering 50% off food and drink until 4 August.

Visitors to the festival will arrive at Circus West Village via Grosvenor Arch, where an impressive new art installation named “Power” has been unveiled by leading artist, Morag Myerscough.

Festival highlights;

Week 1, from Saturday 22nd July; The Power of Surprise, come and discover the new riverside public spaces, including The Village Hall – a new cultural and community venue, as well as the new exciting new restaurants in Circus West Village. Enjoy weekly free classes such as hip-hop, hula hoop, boxing and dance.

Comedians, Richard Herring and Ahir Shah will be performing previews of their Edinburgh Fringe shows in association with Avalon on Tuesday 25th July.

On Thursday 27th July Iain Stirling, the voice of Love Island, and Matt Richardson, will be performing their pre-Edinburgh shows. Doors open on both days at 7.30pm and tickets are £10 available from; bactickets.co.uk.

Summer Sundays runs throughout the festival and kicks off with Swing Patrol which will be providing a vintage band, DJ, dance lessons and performances by Air Patrol from 12-5pm on Sunday.

Week 2, from Saturday 29th July; Power in Young People is full of activities for children and young people. Visitors can expect to make masks, be entertained by a three-wheeling bicyclist, take part in a Scooter Festival complete with a DJ and disco lights, or listen to some of London’s youngest and most talented musicians as part of ‘Gigs’, the Mayor of London’s annual busking competition for 11-25 year olds.

Summer Sundays returns with an old school hip hop flavour featuring DJ Sarah Love alongside professional dancers.

Week 3, from Saturday 5th August; Flower Power will see Circus West Village turned into a bohemian haven – all about funk, peace and love. Visitors can expect a Roller Disco at The Village Hall and flower headdress workshops. Marawa, a world conquering hula-hoop master, will be performing Hoop Love with The Majorettes. Marawa holds the world record for holding 200 hoops at once, so expect to be thoroughly stunned!

Week 4, from Saturday 12th August; Power of Up is all about thinking big and doing big. Children will be entertained by an immersive theatre show called Bouncing Cats and Boom Boom Pups. Witness an exclusive performance of Anyday by Max Calafe, a professional trampoline and physical theatre performer, as well as live Jazz music from Jazz re:freshed and dancers.

Week 5, from Saturday 19th August; Power of Word allows you to channel your inner creativity with fun activities based on words, poetry, conversation and stories. Murray Lachlan presents shows for children and adults and round up the week by exploring the local area with Inua Ellams and The Midnight Run, a walking arts filled night-time cultural journey.

Week 6, from Saturday 26th August: Power Workout combines fitness, fun, social and training to finish off an endless stream of fun and activity at Battersea Power Station’s Circus West Village including outdoor yoga. New and extremely popular lifestyle fitness retailer, Boom Cycle will be running sessions throughout the week.
