Paul Edmonds and Cinnamon Kitchen Open at Battersea

Battersea Power Station, along with contemporary Indian restaurant Cinnamon Kitchen, run by high profile chef Vivek Singh.

They are significant additions to the growing number of restaurants, shops, cafes, bars and businesses that have launched at Circus West Village, the first chapter in the regeneration of the area, which is quickly becoming one of London’s most exciting new destinations.

The opening is Paul Edmonds’ second salon in London, following the success of the brand’s Knightsbridge boutique, which has seen the team establish an extensive portfolio of A-list clients. The Battersea Power Station salon showcases a new concept that is more akin to a private members club than a hair salon and is the only place in London to house a L’Oreal Professional Shu Uemura Art of Hair Library.

It includes a library area where guests can relax, meet a friend before their treatment or enjoy a glass of champagne at the Ruinart bar. A flexible blow dry bar features magnetic charging plates for clients to charge their devices, making it easier than ever for clients to stay connected and work on-the-go.

The salon also has a bespoke barbers section as well as a colour bar for consultations. Here, clients can relax and look on as their colour concoctions are prepared for them, just as they might in a cocktail bar. A photography studio can also be hired out for photo shoots in this multi-functional space.

Paul Edmonds said: “For years I have been looking for a second home in London and Battersea Power Station was a location that both existing and new clients would recognise as being international, iconic and very much London. The Battersea Power Station development is one of London’s most exciting projects and one that we had to be a part of.”

Offering modern Indian food across brunch, lunch and dinner as well as a selection of exclusively created cocktails, Cinnamon Kitchen joins a growing number of British and international restaurants that have opened at Circus West Village in recent months.

Guests at Cinnamon Kitchen, which is situated in a converted railway arch just yards from the River Thames, can enjoy a menu of innovative dishes including Kerala spiced lobster soup flamed with cognac, slow-braised lamb shoulder with fennel and nutmeg sauce and Malabar style mussel and date pickle on toasted brioche.

Tony Conigliaro, an award-winning mixologist, has created 12 cocktails especially for the restaurant, based on Fire, Ice and Spice. A separate takeaway menu will also be on offer so diners can enjoy the sumptuous food from the comfort of their homes.

Vivek Singh, CEO and Executive Chef at Cinnamon Kitchen, said: “We have decided to open new restaurants in historic buildings and locations – The Cinnamon Club housed in the Grade II-listed Old Westminster Library, Cinnamon Kitchen City in the historic East India Trading Company spice warehouses, Cinnamon Kitchen launching in the culturally rich city of Oxford and we are now thrilled to launch the third Cinnamon Kitchen at the iconic Battersea Power Station.

“The Power Station was originally built in the 1930s and has been closed for more than 25 years. We are excited to be a part of the urban regeneration taking place and look forward to extending the Cinnamon Kitchen’s brand reach south of the river.”

Helen Carr, F&B and Leisure Leasing Director at Battersea Power Station Development Company, said: “We are delighted that two more high-profile businesses have decided to make Circus West Village their home. Paul Edmonds is really so much more than you would ever expect from a salon, with a champagne bar, library and a space for photo-shoots, it really does feel like a special retreat and is very relaxing.

“Cinnamon Kitchen is another fantastic addition to the line-up of new retailers and businesses that have opened or are opening at Battersea Power Station and is just one more reason why Circus West Village is quickly becoming one of London’s most exciting new food and drink destinations.”

Businesses still to open at Battersea Power Station this year include: Archlight Cinema, an independent cinema that is a sister venue to the award winning Olympic Cinema in Barnes; Baker and Spice, an authentic bakery and all-day café serving breads, pastries and cakes baked the artisan way; Battersea Brewery, a craft beer micro-brewery with adjoining bottle shop and tap-room; Pedler Cru, an all-day neighbourhood eatery with a daily changing menu, offering adventurous and quirky dishes made from seasonal ingredients; and Moyses Stevens, a boutique florist that has been designing fresh flower bouquets since 1876, winning two royal warrants. As well as a flower shop there will also be a floristry school where visitors can learn how to make their own beautiful bouquets.

Over a thousand residents have now moved into their new homes at Circus West Village and over 700,000 people have already visited the new riverwalk since it opened. The MBNA Thames Clippers River Bus service is now operational, putting Battersea Power Station within 15 minutes of the West End and under 40 minutes to Canary Wharf. A new pedestrian entrance has also opened, connecting Circus West Village with the rest of Nine Elms via Battersea Park Road.

Businesses already open include: Mother, a pizzeria from Copenhagen offering simple soul food (voted third best pizza in London); No. 29 Power Station West, a relaxed neighbourhood bar and restaurant, serving great food all day; Italian restaurant Fiume, where chef Francesco Mazzei is serving classic Italian food from Calabria; Wright Brothers, a new riverside seafood restaurant from the renowned London oyster and shellfish specialists; The CoffeeWorks Project, a family-run business serving the best coffees and tea from around the world as well as homemade cakes and biscuits; Tonkotsu, a Japanese restaurant known for its ramen; and Vagabond, one of the UK’s first urban wineries offering 100 wines by the glass and a fantastic range of craft beers and seasonal food.

The Battersea General Store is the locally run global store with a diverse range of food, freshly made sandwiches and a deli. Boom Cycle, which is known for its high-energy, music-focused fitness experience, has opened its flagship studio at Battersea Power Station.
