Battersea Power Station Development Company has appointed one of London’s leading residential property experts as its new Head of Residential.
Meriam Lock-Necrews, who has over 15 years’ experience in the residential property market and is a former partner and Head of Super Prime Residential Development at Knight Frank, takes over the role ahead of the first residents moving into the Power Station itself this spring.
The converted Power Station building will include homes, offices – including 500,000 sq ft let to Apple for its new UK campus – shops, cinemas, bars and restaurants, as well as a six-acre Power Station Park on the banks of the River Thames.
Despite Lockdown restrictions, Battersea Power Station Development Company has achieved over £150 million of residential sales in the last 12 months and is set for another strong year in 2021 as buyers relish the opportunity to live in or close to one of the world’s most famous buildings and in part of this exciting new ’15-minute neighbourhood’.
Simon Murphy, Chief Executive Officer at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said: “Meriam joins us at the most exciting time possible, with the long-awaited vision for the Power Station and the surrounding area becoming a reality”
“Testament to the global appeal of Battersea Power Station we have continued to see strong demand from buyers both in the UK and internationally. Meriam and the team are ideally placed to capture this interest and drive our sales and lettings operation forward.”
Meriam Lock-Necrews said: “Leading residential sales at Battersea Power Station is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am thrilled to be joining the team at such a pivotal time. With 1,500 people already living at Circus West, the first phase of the project where a thriving and vibrant community exists, we look forward to welcoming the first residents into the Power Station in the next couple of months and Electric Boulevard later this year.”
Lock-Necrews joins Battersea Power Station Development Company from Riverstone, the Goldman Sachs backed developer for people over 65, where she set up the Sales & Marketing operation as their Chief Commercial Officer.
The Battersea Power Station neighbourhood already welcomes over three million people a year, thanks to a strong events programme and over 20 bars, restaurants, cafes and leisure offerings including The Turbine Theatre, Black Sheep Coffee and Archlight Cinema.
As well as welcoming the first residents to the Power Station this spring, 500,000 sq ft of office space in the iconic Power Station building will be handed over this year to Apple to commence fit-out for its UK campus. Once open to the public, the building will also house over 100 shops, bars and restaurants as well as the unique 109m glass elevator Chimney Lift Experience.
With the Northern Line being extended to give the new neighbourhood its own Zone 1 underground station, Battersea Power Station is expected to attract visitors from the UK and abroad, with journey times to The City and West End of approximately 15 minutes.
The overall development will create over 17,000 jobs.
