Battersea Power Station today announces a further wave of retail brands set to open their doors in the iconic Grade II* listed building. Opening to the public next year, the Power Station will form the centrepiece of a new ‘15-minute live, work and play neighbourhood’, which will act as a town centre for the immediate and wider local communities, a new business quarter for the capital and an experiential destination for Londoners, domestic and international visitors.

The announcement follows the recent news that the Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground Station, which brings the development within 15 minutes of the West End and the City, has opened as part of the Northern Line Extension – a true game-changer for the area. Another significant milestone reached earlier this year was welcoming the Power Station’s first ever residents following the completion of Switch House West, the first major element of the building to complete. The rest of the restored building will be completing in stages throughout the year, with residents moving into the Boiler House and Switch House East in the coming months.

The latest British and international retail brands planning to set up shop at Battersea Power Station include:

⦁ Iconic American fashion designer, Ralph Lauren

⦁ Global lifestyle brand, Calvin Klein

⦁ Internationally renowned, Tommy Hilfiger

⦁ Contemporary French fashion brand, The Kooples

⦁ Iconic eyewear brand, Ray-Ban

⦁ French natural skincare and beauty brand, L’Occitane

⦁ American Swedish premium clothing label, Gant

⦁ Naturally inspired and ethical British cosmetics icon, The Body Shop

⦁ French ready-to-wear apparel brand, Lacoste

⦁ Australian skin, hair and body care brand, Aēsop

⦁ Spanish fashion retailer, Mango

⦁ Contemporary global fashion brand, Reiss

⦁ Luxury personalised perfume and candle creators, Le Labo

⦁ Japanese patisserie, Kova

These newly announced brands will join a strong line-up of retailers already set to open their doors at Battersea Power Station next year, including Hugo Boss, MAC Cosmetics, Space NK, Watches of Switzerland, Jo Malone, boxing gym, BXR and The Cinema at The Power Station, a new cinema and private members club, with sister sites including The Cinema at Selfridges and The Cinema in The Arches located in Circus West Village, the first chapter of the Battersea Power Station development.

A c. 25,000 sq. ft Food Hall offering an all-day dining experience will also be opening in the Boiler House at the heart of the Power Station. More details on this and further dining concepts coming to this exciting new food and drink destination for London will follow shortly.

After a successful pop-up during the summer of 2020, high-tech, feature rich e-bike brand, VanMoof, recently opened a permanent store in Circus West Village to showcase its range of bikes, the X3 and S3. Kova will also be opening this Autumn in a standalone store next to the Power Station, offering fine Japanese/French patisseries and teas.

Following these latest signings 82% of the commercial space at Battersea Power Station is now let, with more than 70% of the retail and leisure space either exchanged or under offer.

Sam Cotton, Head of Leasing at Battersea Power Station Development Company, said:

“We are undoubtedly experiencing the most exciting year yet in the transformation of Battersea Power Station. We recently welcomed our first residents into their homes in the Grade II* listed icon, Battersea Power Station’s Zone 1 Underground station opened last week and our retailer and office occupiers will begin fitting out their spaces in the coming months ahead of the Power Station opening its doors to the public next year.

“Battersea Power Station is well on its way to becoming one of the most prominent new neighbourhoods in the world and to have this endorsed by such an impressive collection of British and international brands is testament to the continued appeal of this unique project.”

Simon Murphy, Chief Executive Officer at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said:

“It is to the credit of this magnificent newly restored building and the unique new 15-minute neighbourhood that is coming to life in and around it, comprising homes, offices, shops, cafés, restaurants and entertainment venues, alongside stunning architecture and acres of open green spaces, that brands such as these have chosen to join the growing community of businesses at Battersea Power Station, despite a challenging global retail environment.”

“Our vision was always to bring together an eclectic mix of brands, services and experiences that provide unforgettable experiences and memories for everyone who visits, whether they are there to live, work or play, and we cannot wait to open the doors to everyone next year.”

Aesop’s European General Manager, Karl Wederall, said:

“Aesop is delighted to be a part of the renaissance of the Battersea Power Station. Right from our early discussions about the project we have consistently been impressed with the respect for the architectural integrity of the original power station, the considered curation of brands and the commitment to the revitalisation of the local community by creating a world class shopping and entertainment destination.”

César de Vicente Sandoval, Global Retail Director at Mango, said:

“Mango is proud to be a part of the regeneration of one of London’s most iconic landmarks. With the redevelopment of the area comes a new energy and excitement for both consumers and brands. As a brand it is important for us to be a part of a community as it is core to our Mediterranean values. As Battersea Power Station and the surrounding area becomes a new hub for technology and leisure we are excited to contribute to a new era of retail experience.”

Taco Carlier, Co-founder of VanMoof, said:

“”We are thrilled to have opened our new, expanded London brand store in Circus West Village at Battersea Power Station. The urban village feel of this vibrant new neighbourhood is the perfect retail base for VanMoof, reflecting the kind of liveable future cities our bikes are made for. It’s a rich new chapter for one of London’s most storied communities and one we’re excited to be a part of.””

The retail experience within the Power Station will be housed in the two newly restored, historic Turbine Halls, which although identical when viewed from the building’s exterior, are completely unique in their interior design. Turbine Hall A reflects the lavish Art Deco glamour of the 1930s when the Power Station was built and Turbine Hall B, which was completed in the 1950s, has more of a brutalist, industrial look and feel.

The experience will continue on a new high street, Electric Boulevard, which runs from the south of the Power Station, between the stunning Frank Gehry designed Prospect Place and Foster + Partners’ Battersea Roof Gardens. Electric Boulevard will offer a mix of office space, shops, bars and restaurants, a park, community centre and an exciting new 164 room hotel from art’otel®, the brand’s first hotel to open in London.

Circus West Village, the first chapter in the regeneration of Battersea Power Station, is already home to over 1,500 residents and more than 20 bars, restaurants, cafés, fitness and leisure offerings including Gordon Ramsay’s Street Pizza, Francesco Mazzei’s Fiume, The Turbine Theatre, Be Military Fit, DNA VR, Black Sheep Coffee, Boom Cycle and The Cinema in The Arches. The thriving riverside neighbourhood usually welcomes over three million people each year thanks to its annual events programme with highlights including the Light Festival at Battersea Power Station, Battersea Power Station’s Street Party and Summer Showtime on The Coaling Jetty, London’s first open-air cinema and theatre experience.
