Mayor of Wandsworth Officialy Opens Ball Court

The Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr Piers McCausland and, leader of Wandsworth Council
officially opened the newly refurbished ball court on Ascalon Street in Battersea on Friday 14th
September. The ball court has been refurbished by Careys Civil Engineering, a leading construction
group in the UK and Ireland, in partnership with Battersea Power Station Development Company.

The local residents were consulted by Wandsworth Council about the type of play and sports
facilities they would like to see, with racket sports being a key preference. The ball court has
therefore been refurbished with racket sports in mind.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the ball court, a group
of school children from St George’s CE Primary School went on to it to play badminton and
basketball.

Martin McGuire, Chief Operating Officer of Careys Civil Engineering, said:
“We look to positively engage and interact with the communities we work alongside. With the
support of Careys Foundation we are proud to refurbish the ball court on Savona Estate,
providing the local community with a great facility to enjoy a range of ball and racket sports.”

“The refurbishment of this ball court is a great achievement for all those involved. We’re very
