Together in Battersea Art Installation

Power Out of Restriction (POoR Collective), the winners of last year’s Emerging Design Medal, have teamed up with Battersea Power Station to bring a new community-focused installation to Turbine Hall A!

Titled ‘Together In Battersea,’ this installation draws inspiration from the ideas and designs of young Wandsworth residents, all under 18, who participated in a series of creative workshops hosted by POoR Collective in August 2024. ‘Together In Battersea’ will be open to the public from 20th September to 13th October 2024.

The installation features colourful seating, a towering sculpture, and a vibrant backdrop, designed to foster a sense of community at the heart of Battersea Power Station. Each element invites people to gather, relax, and connect with one another.

With the theme of ‘Togetherness,’ the project builds on POoR Collective’s previous collaboration with Battersea Power Station, ‘Together We Rise’—an artwork of over 100 flags suspended in the historic turbine halls, representing the beauty of sunrise and sunset through bright colours and bold designs.

Founded by architects Larry Botchway, Shawn Adams, Ben Spry, and accountant Matt Harvey-Agyemang, POoR Collective aims to elevate young people and create pathways into the design industry. The studio is passionate about amplifying emerging voices through design, engagement, and community-driven projects.
