What’s That Lady Doing? By Lou Sanders

Thursday 18th July, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Join us with Lou Sanders for an evening of moving honesty and hilarious tales – talking about her debut book What’s that Lady Doing? Guilt, Shame, Blame and Other Funny Stories

This is a book about mistakes. And why we should de-flower shame in all its messy, complicated glory…

This book contains tales of addiction, getting barred from an osteopath’s, getting arrested, sex crimes and forgiveness.

I used to be addicted to boys and alcohol and then men and alcohol and then some other things. I was a little unhinged. I’ve got some great stories about when I was as mad as cheese and then some more stories about how I got less mad and more happy.

If that’s the sort of thing you’re after, please pick me up and take me to bed (that’s the book speaking so a little joke there).

• Doors will open at 6.30pm

• Tickets £7

• Includes a complimentary glass of wine/soft drink

•15% discount off any books purchased on the evening

Book Swap & Book(ish) Group

Sunday 21st July, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Battersea Bookshop are joinging forces with Bookshop Crawl UK to bring you Book Swap & Book(ish) Group.

If you like the idea of being in a book group, but never manage to finish the book in time, we have the group for you! We are thrilled to announce the first of our regular Book Swaps and Book(ish) Groups hosted at the wonderful Battersea Bookshop on Sunday July 21st.

Following the success of the book swap at this year’s London Bookshop Crawl, we are going to be doing it on a more regular basis. Bring books you no longer want and swap them for ones you do, and join us for a low pressure, no required reading book group discussion where there will be the chance to chat about whatever you’ve been reading lately and what you thought about it, or to hear about what other people have been reading.

• The book swap will run from 1pm – 3pm, with the book group discussion starting at 1.30pm.

• Tickets from £3

• Tea, coffee and biscuits are included.

The Bookshop Band in Concert

Wednesday 31st July, 7 PM – 8:30 PM

Head to Battersea Bookshop for an intimate and magical concert with The Bookshop Band, celebrating the release of their 14th studio album, Emerge, Return, produced by legendary musician Pete Townshend.

The band formed out of a collaboration between award-winning songwriters and their local bookshop, writing songs inspired by the books of visiting authors.

Between them Beth Porter and Ben Please bring the books to the stage along with a multitude of instruments, to create a cinematic sound that draws the audience in, at once touching and mesmerising, heart wrenching and funny. No previous knowledge of the books is required as the band guide the audience through the stories behind each song’s inspiration.

You’ll leave enchanted with new melodies and stories, plus a few new book recommendations of your own!

Emerge, Return will be out on Friday 28th June, as a limited edition, with artwork by Stanley Donwood, and will be available to pre-order on vinyl and CD.

• Doors will open at 6.30pm

• Tickets £17

• Includes a complimentary glass of wine/soft drink
